There is no better place in Switzerland to get pizza and other Italian dishes than in Ticino. Especially in Lugano, the largest city of the Italian speaking Canton, options for delicious pizza are plentiful. Staglio pizza in Lugano does give the experience its own twist, allowing you to mix and match between different pizza variants for take away.
It doesn’t happen often that a take-away place make it to the top of the recommended restaurants on Tripadvisor. Staglio however is the exception to this rule, sparking curiosity before even setting foot in Lugano. Staglio Pizza specializes in Pizza Romana, baked in large squares in an on-site pizza oven.
Plenty of pizza choices!
When entering the premises of Staglio Pizza, with its colorful tiles on the counter and bright inviting windows, you are immediately in awe. The counter is filled with a large choice of different pizza variants, each of them looking incredibly tasty and fresh. Now it’s up to you to create your own selection. Cut in mid-sized squares, I’d say three to four pizza slices make a proper meal. Prices vary from CHF 3 for simpler slices to CHF 5 for pizza with toppings such as ham and tuna. A fair warning from yours truly, spicy in ‘Spicy Marinara’ does indeed mean spicy!
Once you have chosen your pizza slices, they warm them up for you. Planning to eat them later? No problem either, they provides re-heating instructions to avoid the dreaded microwave pizza disaster.
Lugano is full of delicious pizza places but Staglio definitely ranks high with amazing quality for a small price.
