Switzerland is not a cheap travel destination. However, the cost of visiting the country is often exaggerated online. All the more reason to highlight ways to get the most out of your Swiss visit, without having to empty your wallet completely. This is where Manora restaurant comes in. The restaurant chain is part of the Manor department store and can be found all over Switzerland. Here, you can find affordable and fresh meals to enjoy while exploring the Swiss cities.
Food that won’t break the bank at Manora
The restaurants from Manor are very popular with Swiss residents. They are conveniently located at shopping locations and offer good food options for a truly affordable price. Most restaurants have a buffet with fruit and sweet pastries, as well as sandwiches.
Then, the restaurants have a salad buffet and a section where you can choose between different hot meals. These hot meals come with side-dishes and costs between CHF 15 and CHF 21. Considering that many restaurants in more touristy areas easily charge CHF 30 for mediocre food, Manor has great deals.
Manora usually has a meat option, a dish involving fish, and vegetarian dishes. Some of their restaurant have periods with themed menus, such as having Japanese dishes for a short period of time.
Naturally, you should not expect Michelin food at the Manora restaurants. However, for the price, the restaurants offer incredible value with many of the dishes made fresh in front of you. With the buffet style setup of the restaurants, it also never takes long before you can sit down and have your lunch or breakfast.
The Manora restaurant in Luzern has amazing views
We tend to visit the Manora restaurant around every other month, mostly as a convenient quick lunch spot during an afternoon of shopping. In Luzern, the restaurant is located on top of the Manor department store in the old town. This restaurant is relatively small, but does have plenty of food options regardless!
Another perk about the Luzern Manora is the roof terrace. On clear days, this is the place to be! The roof terrace (can only be reached by stairs) overlooks the rooftops of the old town and has amazing lake views. I certainly know of worse places in Luzern to eat my lunch!
All in all – the restaurants of Manora are great for relatively healthy and quick meals without cutting too deep in your budget. An additional budget tip: all Manora restaurants are on the Too Good to Go platform to fight food waste. Double win! The restaurants follow the opening hours of the department stores, meaning Manora is not a great restaurant for dinner.
