Ever since moving to Switzerland in early 2022, I have been fully indulging in all the culinary treats that this country has to offer. For me, there is simply no such thing as too much cheese. But sometimes, I do crave a some of the different cuisines. One of the cuisines I miss the most – and that is notoriously hard to find in Switzerland – is Mexican food. Little did I know that the small town of Vevey on lake Geneva would make my dreams come true. There – Comelon Burrito Bar has set up shop, and their burritos and bowls definitely do not disappoint!
An unexpected but welcome lunch place!
Vevey is a small town on the lake of Geneva in canton Vaud. Sandwiched in between the cities of Montreux and Lausanne, Vevey has all the charm but without the crowds. The biggest tourist attraction in Vevey is the Charlie Chaplin museum, you’ll find this famous movie character throughout the city. The streets of Vevey are what you’d expect of a small Swiss town; paved with cobblestones and lined with century-old buildings.
Old book shops are mixed with anique stores and small cafés can be found everywhere. And there the suddenly is a… burrito bar? We were so surprised and happy to run into Comelon on a sunny day in October, that we just had to give it a try!
Comelon Burrito Bar, where have you been all my (Swiss) life?
The staff at Comelon is extremely hospitable and happy to help you with your choices. When asked for the best ingredients (there is a list to choose from), the answer was: “A mix of everything”. And thus, that was the burrito I tried – A wrap filled with quinoa, chicken/beef and a whole load of tasty other ingredients. Guacamole and Gruyère cheese in a burrito? Sign me up!
Of course, Comelon Burrito bar has whole range of salsas to offer to give your burrito that extra kick.
The most surprising aspect about Comelon Burrito bar were the prices. I am not a small eater necessarily, and I felt stuffed after eating their small (petit) burrito. The damage for an amazingly tasty burrito, prepared in front of your eyes? A measly CHF 11. I dare you to find a better alternative in many Swiss cities!
This makes this place even a great destinations for those travellers on a budget, which is not something I can often say about food establishments on this website!

The perfect food to eat on the boulevard
The establishment of Comelon Burrito bar is cute – but rather small. They do have a small outdoor terrace but I recommend to do take-away on a sunny day in Vevey. Make your way to the lakeside and find a place to sit down and enjoy the views while munching on your burrito. There is literally no bad spot to choose on the Vevey boulevard, overlooking the mountains on the other side.
Comelon Burrito Bar
Make sure to visit this gem of a place when you are in Vevey. They are open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday and open for dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. For exact opening hours and their menu, make sure to have a look on their website.
