Explore new places and get discounts with Prozentbuch

Prozentbuch Switzerland

If you are anything like me, you enjoy discovering new bars, restaurants and things to do. Moving to Switzerland was a blessing in that regards, because suddenly a whole new world with activities opened up! In our first year here, we have been able to discover many bars, restaurants and things to do. Recently, a friend gifted us a Prozentbuch yearly subscription. This handy app makes it even more fun (and affordable!) to discover new restaurants etcetera in several major cities in Switzerland.

Prozentbuch is a product that maybe best can be compared to the more old school Coupon booklet. In the app, you find hundreds of coupons for different venues that give you significant discounts. Think of 2 for 1 entrance at the cinema, 2 for 1 meals at restaurant and more similar deals.
Each of the coupons can be used only once, once you have redeemed it, the coupon is invalidated in the app.

Prozentbuch available in 4 major Swiss cities

Currently, the Prozentbuch app has deals available for Zürich, Basel, Bern and Luzern. They come as a packaged app, meaning regardless of where you live, you can redeem deals in each of these Swiss cities. All of the cities seem to have a wide variety of available deals, though we have so far only tested out ‘coupons’ in Luzern.

Both of the venues where we redeemed our deals, were very familiar with the concept and getting the discounted meals/tickets was very frictionless. Important to note that you only activate the coupon when asked so by the venue, otherwise it is invalidated and you won’t be able to use it anymore.

CHF 60 for hundreds of francs in discounts

The most common product sold by Prozentbuch is the 12 month subscription. From the moment that you purchase and activate this Prozentbuch, the deals are valid for 1 year. Subscription lengths of 18 months and 24 months are also available.

The 12 month Prozentbuch is available at CHF 59.90. Quite a steal, considering that the coupons in the Prozentbuch app account for hundreds of francs of discounts. With just two coupons redeemed so far, we already saved over CHF 35!

Support your local!

In general, I really enjoy contributing to the neighbourhood by trying out local bars and restaurants. While using a ‘discount’ app seems counterintuitive in that manner, Prozentbuch allows us to find new favorites that we might not have discovered otherwise! This means that we’ll definitely be back at these venues, despite only being able to use the discount once.

In Switzerland, the prices of going out for dinner are quite steep. And in Luzern and other very touristy cities, the quality of the food often doesn’t match the price asked for the dishes. This is why sometimes, we stick with restaurants we know and like, to avoid a potential disappointment. Prozentbuch helps us widen our horizon and find new local favorites!

Many activities with discount at Prozentbuch too!

While Prozentbuch has a focus on restaurant and bar visits with discount, that is not deals that you find in the app. Many museums and fun activities are also offering discounts through the Prozentbuch app. For example, 2 for 1 deals on the cinema, museum visits and guided tours.

This makes that the Prozentbuch app really allows you to discover these four Swiss cities in ways you maybe normally wouldn’t. Especially for people living in central Switzerland, purchasing the yearly subscription is a no-brainer!

You can purchase the membership directly on the Prozentbuch website, or check out their page to find offline resellers!
