Boutique hotel Corbetta in Les Paccots (FR)

During our 15 months of living in Switzerland, we have discovered many areas of the country and stayed at multiple hotels. This time, a family weekend brought us to the village of Les Paccots. In the winter a beloved small ski resort for families, in the summer a lovely hiking destination. In the village, Hotel Corbetta opened its doors in June 2023. How well does this hotel stack up against those in other Swiss cities? We tested it out!

Les Paccots is a village in canton Fribourg, around a 5 minute drive from Châtel-Saint-Denis and 15 minutes from the cities Montreux and Vevey. The village is situated at around 1000 meters altitude, with higher mountain tops in the direct vicinity of the village. The Hotel Corbetta opened here in 2023, with 39 rooms and a central location in this small village.

The Hotel has two restaurants, one serving pizzas and the other one serving typical Swiss dishes (fondue!). Apart from this, the lobby doubles as a bar in the evening and there is an outside terrace in front of the hotel. There are some small shelves in the lobby where the hotel sells regional souvenirs and delicacies.

The hotel has five floors with rooms either facing the village or the slopes of a nearby hill. We booked a room overlooking the hillside with a balcony, which I really recommend. Waking up with the view of the lush hill right outside your room was super nice!

Hotel spa at Corbetta

The Corbetta hotel features a relax area and spa with sauna on the lowest floor. During our stay, there were still construction activities going on outside of the spa window, but once done, the views from there surely will be amazing. The spa area features a dry sauna, a steam room and a jacuzzi. When we visited the spa, it was calm with just a few other guests using the facilities.

Despite this, it was hard to ignore the fact that the spa area is quite small considering the size of the hotel. I can imagine this easily gets too crowded during the summer and the winter season. If you do want to spend some time here, I do recommend going during off-peak hours. Consult with the reception for the opening hours of the spa area.

The rooms

Our room on the second floor was incredibly spacious! The bed was very comfortable, and there was a little seating area next to the doors leading to the balcony. Oh, the balcony! As mentioned earlier, it was really nice to just sit on the balcony and enjoy the calmness with the mountain peaks in the distance.

The rooms had a very modern yet cozy interior, with lots of wood accents and little nudges to the nature all around you. The modern bathroom had a lot of space as well, with our room featuring a wide sink and a lovely big shower to refresh in after a day of hiking!
We visited the hotel during the summer, but I can totally imagine this to be the most charming lodge during the winter season as well!

Breakfast at Hotel Corbetta

My favorite part about staying in hotels is – of course – the hotel breakfast. With our booking, the breakfast buffet on the ground floor was included. The breakfast room was quite spacious, and if weather permits, you can have breakfast on the balcony right outside. While there was no morning sun, sipping your coffee overlooking the green hilltops must be amazing during the summer!

There was plenty to choose from during breakfast, with a big focus on yoghurt with different toppings and lots of baked goods from the region! If you enjoy an egg in the morning – there is the opportunity to cook your own eggs in a little cooker. Lovers of warm breakfast goodies might be slightly disappointed, classics like scrambled eggs and bacon were nowhere to be found at Hotel Corbetta.
No worries for us, as there was a wide variety of cold cuts and cheeses, delicious coffee and fruit juices. All in all, a great start of an active day!

Day activities when you are staying at this hotel

If you are visiting Les Paccots with the car, it means you’ll have maximum freedom when deciding on your day trips. The village has a bus route going to the nearby town of Châtel-Saint-Denis, but it does take a bit more planning if you are leaving Les Paccots for the day.

From here, you can easily visit Vevey just south of Les Paccots (which I thoroughly recommend!), where you find a quaint inner town and the famous Charlie Chaplin museum. The alluring town of Montreux and the Chillon castle are also just a short drive away.

Within half an hour from Les Paccots, you find the major city of Lausanne, with plenty of activities. Feel like driving north instead of south? Great choice, as here you can visit either the Maison Cailler chocolate museum or the medieval town of Gruyères.

Of course, nature lovers can easily spend days hiking the surroundings of Les Paccots. We did an easy hike with the family that started at Lac des Joncs, but there are more exciting peaks to explore! From here, the Dent de Lys and the well-known Moléson are within hiking distance. Plenty of hiking miles to discover!

All in all about hotel Corbetta

As mentioned before, we stayed at the hotel Corbetta because we had a family weekend in Les Paccots and family of my partner lives in the village. That means that we will definitely be back at hotel Corbetta! Rates depend on availability and the season, but expect to pay around 200-250 CHF per night for a double room facing the mountains. This includes entry to the spa area and the breakfast buffet.
Hotel Corbetta is definitely not the cheapest hotel in Switzerland, but the rates above give you a newly renovated hotel with nature at your doorstep. With its central location, especially those coming with a car will find a perfect base for exploring the region.

In the winter, Les Paccots turns into a cute snowy village (if the weather cooperates of course) where you can go winter hiking, snow shoeing and skiing.
